Club Championship Question

In a comment to the Club Championship Eligibility post, anonynous asked if the 10 week rule was in the Association by-laws.

The answer to this is yes. I think it was put in the by-laws at the very beginning. The reasoning behind it was to prevent a very good golfer from joining the league and only playing once or twice and then play in the Club Championship and beat out all of the ladies who have been loyal participating members. The men's league has a similar rule.

We have presented and voted on these by-laws. Please rest assured that we on the board follow them to the letter. Sometimes, as in this instance, it is difficult to do and we try to make as many concessions as we can without breaking the rules.

I will post the by-laws on this BLOG over the weekend.

FAQ Forum

We have been asked "When I check my handicap on the UGA computer at Sun Hills, it appears that all of my scores haven't been posted. What's going on?".

Answer: When you go into the area on the UGA computer to check your handicap, the only scores you will see are those that are actually 18 hole scores, or those 9 hole scores that have combined to make 18 holes. In order to see all the scores, you need to go into "Peer Review". This choice is located on the bottom left of the main screen of the computer. Then you can find your name or enter your UGA number and check all the scores posted for you.

Hopefully, this helps!

BEAT MORI

Congratulations to all of you who beat Mori! All winners will receive a $5 Target Card. Good shooting!

This coming week is the much anticipated "Rocket Launch" . There will be instructions at the desk when you sign in. The idea is that we will tee up our 2nd shots with some exceptions.
We think it will be a welcome, FUN relief from the heat. It is not a postable play of the day but counts for those of you who need to play one or two more times for the Club Championship.

Hope to see you all there!

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP ELIGIBILITY

Ladies, Below is a listing showing who is eligible for the upcoming Club Championship, those of you who need to play just one more week to be eligible, those who need to play BOTH remaining weeks and those who, unfortunately, will not be eligible for the Club Championship this year.

Please note the first group of ladies have an "E" showing they are eligible with 10+ weeks of play. The remaining groups show how many weeks they have credit for.

ALL OF THESE NUMBERS INCLUDE MEMBER/GUEST AND BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.

If you have friends who can't access this BLOG and they may need to play one or two more times PLEASE let them know.

Please remember, there are only 2 weeks until the Club Championship. This coming Wednesday is a POD that is "fun and not postable". However, if you need to play 2 more weeks, you will have to play this week to get in your 10 weeks.

Thanks for your support this year. We hope to see all eligible ladies on the 5th.

BEAT MORI

Hi Ladies,

Just thought I'd let you know how this week's POD will work. Mori will be playing today. Whatever score he gets on the Front 9, is the score we have to beat. The kicker is...Mori's score will be gross and ours will be net. I mean after all...

I will take everyone whose net score BEATS (no ties) Mori's and divide the total purse that many ways.

Hit 'em long and straight but most of all...HAVE FUN!!

T TIMES

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick reminder to make your t-times for Wednesday. We will be playing the Front 9 this week. If you have a t-time and can't make it, PLEASE call and cancel it. Sun Hills is being very accommodating by keeping the front 9 open for our league, so we need to return the favor.

If those of you who are used to playing 18 holes want to continue, please do. You will only pay your $3 for the side we are on. We will post your entire 18 hole score for you.

Please comment to this post if you have any questions.

THANKS!!

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

Well, it's getting close to the time for our Club Championship. This year it is on August 5th. We will have a 2:00 shotgun start with dinner to follow. Like last year, we will be playing 18 holes. Sun Hills will again close the course for us. Rather than the normal $3 we pay for the weekly POD, there will be a $15 fee for the Championship.

Anyone who has played in a minimum of 10 weekly POD's is eligible. We will have a tally posted for next week. The Club Champion will be the lady with the lowest Gross score regardless of her flight. The number of flights will be determined by the number of ladies that sign-up. Your handicap as of August 1st will be the one used for the Championship.

We will be having long drive contests for each flight, 4 closest to the hole contests and anything else we can think of to make to fun. The sign-up sheet will be at the course so please sign-up early. The absolute last day to sign-up is July 29th.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment on this BLOG post or email Tacey or Dodie. Hope to see you all there!!

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!!

Ladies, You may have noticed that on the Play of the Day for the past month or so, there has been one side that only has 2 flights and only 2 or 3 places in the flights. This is due to a very low participation. The maximum players we have been seeing each week is only around 50-55. What happens is that we can't fill up both sides with enough ladies make both sides competitive. It also allows alot of players that aren't on our league to go out between our groups. This creates very slow play and frustration to many.

Therefore, beginning on the 15th of July, we will only be playing one side. Sun Hills told us that they would give us one side a week and would not book non-league players until our members had the opportunity to schedule t-times.

This means that the ladies who play 18 holes will only be doing a POD for the side everyone is playing. You can continue playing 18, and we will post the 18 hole score for you. Also, it leaves us extra money for Closest to the Hole contest, so we will be increasing those to $15 per hole.

An one other item to mention. If we have a bunch of twosomes playing, we may have to join one another if we have an unusually busy week. This will enable us to get to know other members of our league so that can't be too bad. It will also keep pace of play moving.

If weekly play starts to increase enough to warrant playing and paying both sides again, we will happily do so.

If you have friends on the league that don't have internet, please pass this on to them. We will also send an e-mail blast to remind ladies to check the BLOG!

Thanks for your understanding. Please make comments if you like. You can also e-mail if you don't want your comments public.

You all make this a great league!

JULY 1st WINNERS!!!

Ladies, Here are the winners for this past week's Low Net POD. Congratulations to you all!
Please check back to this BLOG for a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT to be posted tomorrow!
See all of you who signed up for Beauty & the Beast on Wednesday.

Comment Answer

Hi! A member asked if the $55 for Beauty and the Beast was per person or per couple. It is per couple. Thanks for asking!
