Good Morning!

Below are the winners of this week's LOW NET POD. Congratulations to all!

Please note the there are no Closest to the Holes for this week. The reason for this is the markers were not put out first thing in the morning. As a result, not all of our ladies' shots were counted. Thus, we felt the fairest, but not less painful, approach was to just cancel the contest for the 25th.

Fortunately, this was an isolated "goof" this year but we have reminded the course to send the markers out with the first ladies to play. As a precautionary measure, if you are the first out on Wednesday, please ask the starter for the markers.

Ladies, Since we had to reschedule Beauty and the Beast we are without a POD for this week. Since we can't let that happen, we will play LOW NET this week.

Hi Ladies,

Just to let you know - I have posted all the changes from the Club Championship scorecards into the Ringer Book. So you all don't have to worry about that.

Also, the UGA computer has been very testy lately and as a result, I wasn't able to get a new handicap sheet printed. Barry said he will try again on Wednesday AM. If he's successful, the date on the top will be 8/15/2010. If the new one isn't posted, don't worry about the handicap part of the CHICAGO PUTTS recap sheet. I'll take care of it when I figure the winners this weekend.

So, zero in your sights and putt good!

CHICKEN PASTA SALAD

As promised...the recipe for the deeeeelicious salad Brenda made for our Club Championship dinner. Thanks, Brenda...YUMMO!

JO’S PASTA TERIYAKI CHICKEN SALAD

Dressing
1 Cup oil ( I use canola oil )
2/3 Cup Teriyaki sauce ( I use Very Very Teriyaki )
2/3 Cup white wine vinegar
6 Tablespoons sugar
½ Tablespoon ground black pepper

12 Chicken breasts, cooked, cooled and chopped
4 Cups ( uncooked ) bowtie pasta- cooked and cooled

Marinate the chicken and the pasta in the dressing overnight. Put the chicken/pasta/dressing mixture in a large enough bowl to add the following:

2 Cans- 11 oz each mandarin oranges- drained
1 ½ Cups Craisins
2 Cans- 8 oz each- Water chestnuts, drained and cut in half
1 Cup Honey Roasted Peanuts
1 Cup Roasted Almonds- ( I cut them in half )
1 Bag mixed spring greens ( I buy the big container at Costco and use half )
1 Bag fresh baby spinach ( I buy the big container at Costco and use half )

Once everything is mixed together you serve immediately- This will serve 20 people and is a meal in itself. I also make it without the chicken as a salad for fish or beef.

2010 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

Greetings! Below are the results of this year's Club Championship. We had some real good golfing this year. Although we can only pay 3 gross and net places per flight, we acknowledged the 4th place winners as well. Judi Tutorow, CJ Talbot, Miki Black, Kay MacFarlane, Melanie Eppich and Sue Tice definitely deserve an honorable mention.

On the sheets that are posted on the south windows of the Sun Hills clubhouse you will be able to see how everyone fared.

In fact everyone who came out and played and supported our league deserves a big rousing cheer! Thank you all for your support of the Sun Hills Ladies Association!

2010 CLUB CHAMPION

Good Afternoon!

Well, we had a GREAT Club Championship this year. Fantastic participation, pretty darn good weather (not steaming hot, anyway), lots of laughs, good food and happy winners.

This year the Club Championship goes to a new member of our league. Let's all give KAREN MITCHELL a great big CONGRATS for her title winning 88!!!

We had a great competition. I haven't quite finished all the calculating, sorting and such, so you won't see a complete list of winners and winnings until tomorrow or Saturday. So keep checking!

BEAUTY & THE BEAST

Due to a scheduling issue, BEAUTY & THE BEAST HAS BEEN MOVED TO SEPTEMBER 1st.

There will be a sign up sheet and flyers at the course for the next couple of weeks. Please check with your favorite "BEAST" and come out for some fun.

Club Championship Answer

We had a member ask why we decided to go to a one day, 18 hole, middle afternoon Club Championship...

In the beginning, we had the Club Championship on Saturday. It got to a point that we only had around 12 ladies playing. since this really wasn't working...

At a Closing Social 6 or so years ago, we took a vote and decided to attempt a Club Championship that went for 2 weeks and ladies golfed their regular time. That presented the problem of some ladies only being able to play 1 or the 2 weeks, or getting rained out for sone and not others, and on and on. So...

We brought this dilemma up at another Closing Social and voted to have a one day, 18 hole, Wednesday PM Club Championship. Sun Hills agreed to close the course for us so we wouldn't have others playing in the middle of us.

Since that time, we have had record numbers of participants and, we feel, a true test for the Championship.

We have set the date for this Championship early so any lady who works could schedule it off.

If anyone wants to revisit how the Club Championship is held, please feel free to bring it up at the Closing Social.
