PICK 4 - August 26, 2015

Hi there!

This past week Mother Nature cooperated long enough for 10 ladies to play the "PICK 4" play of the day.  By the looks of some of these scores, maybe some of our ladies could lighten their load and just play with those 4 clubs!  With the light turnout, we only have 2 flights and have paid just 2 places.

Everyone who played deserves kudos!  And here are the ladies who get money also!  Congrats!!

ONE WOMAN SCRAMBLE - Sept. 3, 2014

Hello Ladies!

We had a great turnout of 43 ladies Wednesday for the One-Woman Scramble.  There we some awesome scores shot that day.  Proof positive we know how to get along with ourselves!

Shout out to KRISTIN KANO for making a non-scrambled EAGLE on hole 11.  Way to go girl!!!

Here are the scrambling winners!  CONGRATS!

LAST POD OF THE YEAR

Hi All,

Well this coming Wednesday is the last POD of the season. I only had one suggestion and that was do a "4-woman Scramble" with the people we ordinarily play with. That would be fun but difficult for 2 reasons - 1) There just isn't enough participation this late in the year that we could ensure even 4 or 5 groups. 2) Alot of our members only play in twosomes or threesomes. So, we will explore this idea for next season and see what we can come up with.

So, for this week, we will play another "One Woman Scramble". This was chosen because it was fun, and all the instructions are already done for it (lazy???).

We hope you all had fun this month doing some unusual stuff.

PS - Don't forget to sign up for the Closing Social if you haven't already!

BYE!!

BLIND DRAW

Hello!

Well, although we had very limited participation, we were still able to do the "Blind Draw" Wednesday. In order to be able to pay at least $5 to the last place winners, we only paid 3 places. Below is the posting sheet that shows how you were paired and the winners.

Barry was kind enough to draw the pairings for me. THANKS BARRY! This is also a POD that we will be keeping for next year.

Congrats to the winners.

SEPT 22 POD

Hi Ladies,

We have had a request for next week's POD. So, we will be playing "TWO PERSON BLIND DRAW LOW NET". What we will do is each of us will just come out and play our own game. We will each use a separate scorecard. After the round is over, we will randomly draw twosomes, combine your scores, then subtract both handicaps from the combined score.

In order to make sure that the blind draw doesn't raise any questions, I will have Chris, Barry or Sean do the "draw" on Thursday morning when I pick up the cards.

We will pay the top 6 twosomes. If there is an odd number of ladies playing, the lady with the LOWEST handicap will be drawn twice.

There will be instructions at the desk Wednesday when you check in.

There is still one more week after next to play. If anyone else has a request for a FUN tourney, please let me know. Otherwise you may be stuck with something that I make up and who knows where that may lead us!

Good Luck and HAVE FUN!!!

SEPT 15 - ONE WOMAN SCRAMBLE

Greetings Ladies, Below are the winners of the "One woman Scramble" that was played on Wednesday. This was a fun format and one that we may keep in the future.

Congrats to all the winners.

There was an uninvited guest playing with Jane Christensen and Sharon Price. The FOX decided that they needed more of a challenge than the scramble was giving them so he started to swipe their balls. When the rascal got done, he had relieved them of about 5 or 6 balls. According to Jane it was fun to watch him run on to the green, snatch the ball and run and dig a hole and bury it.

Now where can you go for such entertainment?

ONE WOMAN SCRAMBLE THIS WEEK!

Hello, By request, this week we will be playing a "One Woman Scramble" for our POD. The men's league plays this a couple times a year and we've had ladies that would like to give it a try. Here's how it works:

ONE WOMAN SCRAMBLE

The Player hits 2 separate balls off the tee.

Choose the best shot and take your other ball to that spot.

Play both balls from that spot.

•You may improve your lie one club length as long as it is in the same condition (rough, sand) and no closer to the hole.

•You can improve lie on the green 6 inches to either side of the chosen ball.

Keep playing in this manner until game is over.

This is NOT a postable score.

The starter may break up 4 somes if the course is busy.

3 somes will NOT be split.

HAVE FUN!!!!!

This will be posted at Sun Hills as well...

BINGO BANGO BONGO

Greetings! Here are the winners for last week's POD - BINGO BANGO BONGO! We only had 29 ladies play, so there were only 3 flights this week. I like to keep at least 10 players per flight.

It was a fun change of pace. I think it is a POD me may keep with a couple of tweeks!

Still figuring this coming week' play. I'll keep you informed.

Congrats to the BBB winners!

BEAUTY & THE BEAST

Greeting! Well, we had our annual Beauty & the Beast play this past Wednesday. It was a pretty good turnout. The weather was great! Golf was fun! The food was tasty! I think a good time was had by all.

Thanks to everyone who hauled Beasts out to play.

We'll do it again next year!

SEPTEMBER 8TH POD

Hi All,

I have been searching for some new and FUN POD's to fill up September. I have found a couple that sound like they will fit the bill. This coming Wednesday we will be playing "Bingo Bango Bongo". Here's the scoop:

Bingo Bango Bongo rewards players for three things on each hole: being the first player in the group to get onto the green; being closest to the hole once all group members are on the green; and being the first player in the cup.

 The first player in a group to get her ball on the green gets a point (bingo).
 The player in the group whose ball is closest to the pin once all balls are on the green gets a point (bango).
 The player in the group who is first to hole out gets a point (bongo).

Show points as DOTS in the score box of the player earning the point(s). Add up the points and player’s score at the end of the game. Calculate NET score and subtract BBB points. Low scores will win.

Bingo Bango Bongo gives weaker players a chance to earn points because what matters is being first at something. Because this factor (and because the first person putting will be the one farthest from the hole), strict etiquette must be enforced. The player who is away always plays first.

There will be written instructions for you all at the desk Wednesday. Hope you enjoy it!

AUGUST 25, 2010 LOW NET

Good Morning!

Below are the winners of this week's LOW NET POD. Congratulations to all!

Please note the there are no Closest to the Holes for this week. The reason for this is the markers were not put out first thing in the morning. As a result, not all of our ladies' shots were counted. Thus, we felt the fairest, but not less painful, approach was to just cancel the contest for the 25th.

Fortunately, this was an isolated "goof" this year but we have reminded the course to send the markers out with the first ladies to play. As a precautionary measure, if you are the first out on Wednesday, please ask the starter for the markers.

Thanks for your help.

This Week's POD

Ladies, Since we had to reschedule Beauty and the Beast we are without a POD for this week. Since we can't let that happen, we will play LOW NET this week.

Good Luck!!!!!

2010 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

Greetings! Below are the results of this year's Club Championship. We had some real good golfing this year. Although we can only pay 3 gross and net places per flight, we acknowledged the 4th place winners as well. Judi Tutorow, CJ Talbot, Miki Black, Kay MacFarlane, Melanie Eppich and Sue Tice definitely deserve an honorable mention.

On the sheets that are posted on the south windows of the Sun Hills clubhouse you will be able to see how everyone fared.

In fact everyone who came out and played and supported our league deserves a big rousing cheer! Thank you all for your support of the Sun Hills Ladies Association!

ROCKET LAUNCH

Hi All!

Below are the winners for this past week's Rocket Launch. Looks like it was a mixed bag as to whether teeing up your second shot helped or hindered. We did have a ton of Birdies this week so I'm guessing not all was bad! Hope you had a good time!

This coming Wednesday is "LOW NET" followed by "LOW PUTTS" on the 4th to get us in shape for the Club Championship on the 11th. If you haven't done so already, please sign up.

Hit 'em long and straight!!

MEMBER/GUEST, part 2

Brenda Jorgenson & Guest - 36

Tami Hull & Teresa Webb - 42
Betsy Larson, Sue Tice & Guest - 42
